Krause Hof - Curcumin + Piperine (60 capsules)

Curcumin is a secondary plant substance from the root of the ginger plant Kurkume (Curcuma longa). This sounds complicated at first. Actually, it just means that it is an organic molecule that performs specific tasks in the plant.

Curcumin is a yellow pigment that is also used as a food colorant (E100). Therefore, its traces can be found in many food groups. We are probably most familiar with it as a curry spice.

Together with the molecules demethoxycurcumin, bisdemethoxycurcumin and cyclocurcumin, it belongs to the curcuminoids, the active polyphenolic compounds from turmeric.

Turmeric contains up to 5% curcuminoids along with essential oils, minerals and fibers.

The application of the secondary ingredient curcumin, similar to other spices, is coloring and seasoning meals. For this reason, curcuminoids are also extracted and concentrated to be studied at high doses in clinical trials. However, this extracted active ingredient has little to do with the actual turmeric plant.

Why is curcumin combined with piperine?
When taking curcuma, there is generally the problem of quite low bioavailability. This is because normally only a small portion of the consumed turmeric can actually be absorbed by the body. Therefore, one would actually have to take quite large amounts of turmeric.

The solution to this problem: Piperine! Piperine is the main ingredient in black pepper - and capable of significantly increasing the bioavailability of other nutrients such as turmeric.*

There are numerous studies showing that the bioavailability of turmeric can be increased by 2000% with the addition of piperine.
